Mental health is just as important as physical health to a child's well-being.

“How Urban Living Affects Children’s Mental Health”

A recent study done by researchers at Duke University and King’s College London found that 12-year-olds that live in urban areas were nearly twice as likely to experience psychotic symptoms than those that live in non-urban areas. Two factors, low social cohesion and crime victimization, appeared to have had the largest impact on these findings. This study can be used to help further detection and intervention services for early psychotic symptoms in order to reduce the severity of mental health problems later in life.
